Who are we?
Our Association was founded by Bob Hogue in May 1990. Mr. Hogue was born and raised in Slippery Rock Township located in Western Pennsylvania where he spent his boyhood days helping his father on a dairy farm. He always had a love for horses and eventually became interested in training and racing Standardbred horses. In a period of 40 years, Mr. Hogue has owned numerous stallions which sired many money winning colts that have made a name for themselves on the harness racing circuit. His experience, expertise, and reputation in working with Standardbreds are recognized by his peers throughout Western Pennsylvania.
As with anyone who finds it satisfying and rewarding to share their enthusiasm and fascination with others, Mr. Hogue founded the National Horse Lovers Association to share common interests and ideas related to equine concerns and provide a forum for dissemination. Our monthly meetings offer presentations, demonstrations, and discussions on horse care and behavior. We work toward a common goal of appreciating the horse and recognize the contributions it has made to societies throughout the world. It is an animal we have come to love, respect, and enjoy. However, this group is not just about horses, it's about people too. We meet, ride, and converse in an informal atmosphere where, through the years, many close and continuing friendships among our members have developed. These friendships have contributed to a high percentage of active participants in our Association, and as a result, our administrative and recreational endeavors continue to be successful.
